Simultaneous surgery on all four Heart Valves in a 10 year old child.

A young patient, born with Tetralogy of Fallot (TOF) who underwent his initial corrective open-heart surgery in early childhood, has defied all odds.

Facing a catastrophic, rare case of Infective Endocarditis, with major leaks in all 4 heart valves -he has achieved a full recovery and is now 6 weeks post-op and thriving! Executing this High-Risk Redo Surgery meant entering a chest with dense, hostile surgical scar tissue from her childhood operation, while simultaneously managing critical pre-operative low blood pressure and severe Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension (PAH).The complex procedure required correcting all four valves of the heart simultaneously, including a bioprosthetic pulmonary valve replacement. This incredible save was a true masterclass in teamwork, led by Dr T K Jayakumar HOD of Cardiac Surgery, Dr Manjusha Lead Cardiac Anesthesiologist, Dr Anil from pediatric Cardiology, Dr Netto from IDU and the alongside the tireless dedication of our entire Cardiac Surgery, Cardiac Anesthesia and pediatric team from Institute of Child Health.
