The KMCFHC Ettumanoor is the Urban Health Training Centre, 8 km away from the College. The KMCHC is under the control of Kottayam Medical College, and an Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor of the Department of Community Medicine is appointed as Administrative Medical Officer.The Block Panchayath Ettumanoor oversees the Hospital Management Committee. The institution caters to whole of Ettumanoor Municipality which has a population of around 51000 distributed in 35 wards.

The health centre offers comprehensive health care services to the people in Ettumanoor Municipalitya well straining to Medical students, Nursing students, House surgeons and Postgraduates.

The KMCFHC functions as a primary health center for the public free of cost. We are also engaged in conducting outreach health programs in Municipality areas, Anganwadis and schools. With two units of specially trained palliative care team, we also make house visits and provide palliative care for bedridden patients. We have outreach Immunization services for the children across the Municipality area. We provide free NCD Clinic at field level at all sub centres for early detection and treatment of lifestyle diseases.

Interns and Postgraduate students of Dept of Community Medicine are posted on a regular basis at the UHTC.

Services offered at UHTC

  • Preventive health services:
    • Screening for Communicable and Non-Communicable diseases,
    • Health education sessions,
    • Implementing national health programmes.
    • Optometry services are available at the centre.
    • Family planning services are provided at the institution.
    • Field level activities are carried out in all 8 subcentres.
      • National Health programmes:- The Centre is actively involved in implementing, monitoring and evaluating of national health programmes likeNational Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child and Adolescent programme, National Vector Borne Disease control programme, NLEP, National Programme for Control of Non Communicable Diseases, Integrated Disease Surveillance Program in the field practice area.
      • Health day observations:- The national and International health days are observed in the field practice area.
  • Curative health services:
    • Outpatient services – Available on all days and on an average 350-400 patients attend OPD daily
    • Inpatient Services– 25 bedded IP facility
    • Pharmacy – Medicines are available free of cost
    • Laboratory services – Hematology and Biochemistry tests are available
    • Referral services – e Sanjeevani teleconsultation facility is available.
  • Outreach services: Mobile health camps, school health services, Family surveys.
    • Outreach Immunization – Fixed day immunization services are available at each sub centre area.
    • Non communicable Disease Services – For screening and follow up of NCD services are available free of cost at each sub centre on fixed days
    • Palliative Care Services: We have two primary palliative care teams and one secondary palliative care team, carrying out home visits for bedridden patients in the Municipality area.
    • School health services: General health screening and health education session on personal hygiene, nutrition, first aid and disease preventions
