About Us

The department started functioning since 1964. The first HOD , Dr. Balaraman Nair MD. We had started postgraduate MD course in Forensic Medicine from the year 2010. There are 6 faculties and 6 residents posted in the Forensic Medicine department. The faculties are Professor & HOD, one Associate Professor and 4 Assistant Professors. There is an annual intake of 2 post graduate students. The work is mainly non medical such as medicolegal including postmortem examinations with an yearly average count of 2000 autopsies per year and subject examinations followed by court appearance and taking classes for the Undergraduates and Post Graduates. A special E-Sanjeevani tele medicine service is also delivered by the department. Attached to the department, there is a lecture hall for the undergraduate and museum facility. The department also possess a library. The projector facility is maintained in the department for taking lecture class.

• 9am to 4 pm on Working days
• 10.00 am to 04.00pm on holidays

Ongoing Research: There are 4 to 5 ongoing research conducted by the faculty. The residents are doing thesis work on various topics.
