About Us
The Department of Medical Oncology, Govt. Medical College Kottayam was started functioning as a wing of Radiation Oncology on 04/07/2023 and later on established as a separate department on 15/09/2025. This new department fills the gap of comprehensive cancer care in Medical College, Kottayam. The department takes care of the medical treatment of the cancer patients which includes chemotherapy, targeted therapy and immunotherapy.
Services Offered
All types of systemic treatment for both solid tumors and hematogenic malignancies (Leukemia, Lymphoma) are being offered here. This includes administration of intense and complex chemotherapy protocols, targeted therapy and immunotherapy. The active and intense post treatment monitoring and support is also being done in this department. The department confirms all infection control protocols for their patients.
We provide daily OP services, ward consultations and inpatient care including ICU care for cancer patients. Regular multidisciplinary tumor boards are conducted with the help of Radiation Oncology, Surgical Oncology, and Pathology.
We have shared wards and ICU with Radiation Oncology Department.
