The CTVS team, Govt. Medical College, Kottayam led by Dr. Jayakumar T.K., Professor and Head performed India’s first heart transplant in Government sector on September 15, 2015.

In 2015, Dr. Jayakumar T.K. received a special honour from Sri. V. S. Sivakumar, the Hon. Health Minister of Kerala, for performing the nation’s first heart transplant in the public sector.
